Position: Tax Specialist
Location: Calgary, AB
Type: Permanent, Full-time
Bromwich+Smith is currently seeking a Tax Specialist to join our Insolvency Administration Team. The Tax Specialist supports the Bankrupt client in meeting their tax filing requirements and ensures that the legislative requirements according to the Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act (BIA) and Income Tax Act (ITA) are met.
Key Accountabilities include:
Serve as a conduit between Client(s) and Canadian Revenue Agency (CRA) to administer taxes on behalf of the Client(s).
+ Follow up with relevant stakeholders (including CRA, Clients, etc.) to gather and verify information.
+ Ensure all legislative requirements in relation to the Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act and other legislations are met.
+ Advice and provide solution to clients as it pertains to the administration and processing of taxes.
+ Prepare documentation and update the insolvency software in a timely manner to ensure diligence and consistency.
Knowledge & Skills:
+ You have a minimum of High School diploma or equivalent;
+ You have a minimum of 3 years of experience in filing Income Tax Returns with the Canada Revenue Agency;
+ You have a working knowledge of accounting/ bookkeeping;
+ You have experience using the Tax Software Package ProFile;
+ You are proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite.
Nice to have:
+ Insolvency experience would be considered an asset;
+ Completion of (or enrollment in) Tax Preparer Courses.
