Position: Insolvency Counsellor
Location: Calgary, AB with a potential for remote work
Type: Permanent, Full-time

Position Summary:

Bromwich+Smith is currently looking to add a qualified Insolvency Counsellor to our Insolvency Administration Team. The Insolvency Counsellor supports our clients in their financial recovery by assessing their needs and providing the right tools and knowledge.

Key Accountabilities include:

+ Counsel clients in accordance with the Counselling in Insolvency Matters Directive of the BIA;

+ Handle a challenging workload of at least 8 counselling sessions each day;

+ Clarify and address client concerns specific to their individual program and connect them with internal resources, if needed;

+ Evaluate clients’ needs and assist clients to understand and overcome financial challenges;

+ Deliver counselling online;

+ Assist clients through difficult life events by referring clients to outside agencies or resources, as needed.

Knowledge & Skills:

+ You are recognized as a qualified BIA Insolvency Counselor.

+ You have a post-secondary diploma and at least 2 years’ experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

+ You show empathy, are an active listener and have an excellent command of the English language both oral and written; you are skilled at diffusing emotionally challenging conversations.

+ You are passionate about providing exemplary client centric delivery of service and diligent in ensuring necessary administrative tasks associated with counselling appointments are completed accurately, and within a timely manner.

+ You have intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite along with a strong aptitude for learning new computer programs.

+ You have working knowledge and experience in Insolvency software.

+ You can work flexible hours in accordance with the business needs.
