Position: Asset Specialist

Location: Calgary, AB

Type: Permanent, Full-time

Position Summary:

Bromwich+Smith is currently seeking an Asset Specialist to join our Insolvency Administration Team. The Asset Specialist concentrates on the Trustee’s investigation, handling and disposition of the Bankrupt’s assets. The Asset Specialist completes various administrative duties related to the process of bankruptcies and proposals, specifically the control and distribution of assets for the equitable treatment of Creditors.

Key Accountabilities include:

Assets Administration

+   Participate in the administration of bankruptcies and consumer proposals by facilitating liquidation of a variety of assets, such as real estate, vehicles, recreational equipment and other items;

+    Prepare various reports in respect of asset reviews required by the Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act (BIA);

+    Conduct name searches as required, including Land Titles, Motor Vehicles, and Personal Property;

+    Contact stakeholders, including individuals, banks, credit unions, trust companies, and any other credit granters that may have an interest in the asset;

+    Receive and review relevant or required documents submitted by external stakeholders and the Bankrupts;

+    Draft asset repurchase agreements and Trustee correspondence for review and completion with the Bankrupt and/or Trustee;

+    Document all asset information according to our Best Practices and Guidelines, ensuring compliance with the Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act and other provincial and federal legislation.

File Administration

+    Process Bankrupt’s information by using applicable insolvency software;

+    Take ownership for the files under their review.

Knowledge & Skills:

+    You hold a minimum of a High School diploma or equivalent;
+    You have at least 2 years of experience valuing assets, primarily focused on Personal Property and motorized vehicles, including, automobiles and trucks, recreational vehicles, ATV’s, and motorcycles;

+    You have experience in communicating with internal and external stakeholders, such as Real Estate agents, Bailiffs, Lawyers, Auction staff;
+    You are proficient in the use of Microsoft Outlook, Word & Excel;

+    You speak and write English fluently;

+    You have demonstrated ability to handle a large workload with sensitivity to strict time frames.

+    Preference will be given to candidates with an Asset Management Diploma and/or candidates with Insolvency experience.
